Is There Any Entrance Exam For Graphic Design?
Gone are the days where students involved in architecture had to rely on specialised courses and a trial-and-error learning approach to hone their skills. Today, more than a dozen colleges will assist you in launching your architecture career. These colleges have graduate courses in a variety of design subjects such as creative arts, graphic design, fashion design, clothing design, game design, and so on.
About Graphic Design
Graphic design programmes teach you how to use pictures, animation, and visuals to communicate ideas and messages. You would also need awareness of electronic media packages and marketing expertise to succeed in this area.
The graphic design course is intended to familiarise students with the graphic design industry while concentrating on basic design concepts such as flow, balance, pacing, contrast, typography, and so on. 1. Design Aptitude Test from the National Institute of Design (NID-DAT)
The National Institute of Design (NID) provides Bachelor of Design (BDes) graduate courses as well as a Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD). You will learn subjects including animation film design, fashion design, computer game design, furniture design & interior design, transportation & car design, and so on through these courses.
The Exam: There are two sections of the admission exam: NID Prelims and NID Mains. The Prelims are a written exam that must be passed in order to advance to the Mains. This section of the test covers concept philosophy, imaginative thought and composition, presenting skills, creativity and doodling, and so on. The Mains consists of a studio evaluation and an interview round that includes model building, object manipulation, audio-visual experiments, and so on.
The preliminary exams are normally held in January, and the main exams are held in May. In October, you will begin applying for the test.
Eligibility: To take this test, candidates must have a minimum of 10+2 (cleared or appearing) in either stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts).
2. NIFT Entrance Examination
The National Institute of Fashion Technology administers this test (NIFT). It is held once a year in 32 cities to offer admission to the 16 NIFT colleges located throughout the world. It provides courses such as Bachelor of Design in Fashion Design, Leather Design, Accessory Design, and so on, as well as Bachelor in Fashion Technology.
The Exam: Aspirants must pass the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and the General Ability Test (GAT) before proceeding to scenario assessments, community meetings, and a personal interview round. The application period begins in October, and the exam is held in January.
Eligibility: To take this test, candidates must have a minimum of 10+2 (cleared or appearing) in either stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts).
3. Design Entrance Examination (AIEED)
The Arch College of Design and Business administers the Entrance Examination for Design for graduate design programmes associated with the University of Rajasthan. These comprise Bachelor of Design courses in Fashion Design, Interior Design, Jewellery Design, and so on, as well as Bachelor of Arts courses in Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA), Applied Arts, and so on.
The Exam: The exam includes an online round to assess your general knowledge, logic, and visualisation skills. This is accompanied by an interview and portfolio round in which you are supposed to create a video and a portfolio as well as engage via Skype.
Every year, the exam is held between February and March, and applications are accepted beginning in October of the previous year.

4. PAF Entrance Examination
Pearl Academy accepts students into certificate and certification programmes such as Communication Design (interaction/graphics/animation & VFX), Art Design (fashion accessories/fashion textiles), Fashion Media Communication, and others.
The Exam: You must pass the General Proficiency Test (GPT), the Design Aptitude Test (DAT), and an interview.
To appear for this test, candidates must have a minimum of 10+2 (cleared or appearing) with a 50 percent in either stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts).
5. Design Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination (UCEED)
UCEED handles admissions to the Bachelor of Design (BDes) programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur. They have courses in areas such as Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Animation Design, Interaction Design, and Mobility, among others.
The Examination: There are three types of questions on the exam: numerical answer type, multiple choose questions, and multiple choice questions. This is one of the few architecture tests that does not place an emphasis on drawing abilities; instead, it emphasises observation skills, visual ability, perceptual ability, attention to design criteria, and social and environmental knowledge. The exam is normally held in January, with the findings released in March. In October, applications for the next year’s test open.
