How Do I Warp Part Of An Image In Photoshop?
One of the strongest new features of Photoshop CC 2021 is the improved Warp order. Though Photoshop has helped us to warp images for years, the controls and options for the Warp command have been minimal so far. But as of CC 2021, this is no longer the case. Adobe also introduced powerful new upgrades to Warp, including new Warp grid presets, new custom grid measurements, and the ability to add our own grid lines and control points anywhere we need them. Now we can pick and warp several points inside the picture at the same time, and we can also scale and rotate various parts of the image independently! Smart artefacts vs natural layers Warping
Even, before selecting a Warp command, we strongly suggest that you first transform your layer to a smart entity. The explanation is that if you warp a regular pixel sheet, the modifications you create would become irreversible. But if you warp a smart thing, the warp is always editable. You can warp a smart object further if you need to, or erase the warp, and return to the original picture form at any moment, without any loss of consistency.

To transform the layer to a smart object, press the Layers menu icon in the upper right corner:
- Click on the Layers menu icon in Photoshop
- Open the Layers panel menu.
- Choose Convert to Smart Object:

- Select the “Convert to Smart Object” command.
- An icon appears in the lower right corner of the layer preview thumbnail, informing us that the layer is now safely inside a smart entity, and we are ready to warp the contents:

Where am I supposed to find Photoshop’s Warp command?
There are a few ways to access the Warp command in Photoshop. One of them is by heading to the Edit tab in the Menu Bar, selecting Transform, and then choosing Warp. This allows you to directly control the Warp command:

The Warp button (and the Free Transform command) now brings us many undos in Photoshop CC 2021. To undo your last move, go to Edit menu and select Undo, or click Ctrl+Z (Win)/Command+Z (Mac) on your keyboard. Click Ctrl+Z (Win)/Command+Z (Mac) repeatedly to reverse several steps:
Choosing the preset grid scale of the Warp command in Photoshop CC 2021
Choose one of three default Warp grid sizes.
The grid is seen in front of the graphic. Here, I selected the 3×3 grid. Notice that instead of having control points just in corners, we also have a control point at any point where the horizontal and vertical grid lines converge. So only by incorporating a 3×3 grid preset, we have gone from four control points to sixteen:

You may press on either control point to warp the picture using the grid and drag it independently of the others:
- Switching the picture by dragging one of the preset control points in Photoshop CC 2020
- Clicking and moving the control point within the grid.
- Dragging of the trigger handle
- You may also drag any of the control handles that stretch from the selected stage. Here I drag the correct control handle farther to the right to warp the form of the upper body of the man:

Rotation of the control point
And you can rotate the picture around a point by pressing and dragging the control handle clockwise or clockwise. Of note, I am exaggerating stuff here only to make the conclusions more evident:

- Rotate the picture around the control stage.
- Warping of a grid line
- In addition to using control points and handles, you can also press and move the grid line itself between two points to warp and curl the line into shape:

- Clicking and dragging on one of the grid sides.
How to warp several control points at a time
So far, we have been looking at how to warp the picture with one control point at a time. But in the CC 2020 Photoshop, we can even warp several control points at once.
Choosing several control points
Press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard to pick several points and choose the points you want to select. Or a simpler approach is to keep Shift and quickly move the points to pick them. If you want a point by accident, hold down your Shift key and press the point to delete it.
Here I choose the four points in the middle of the grid. A box exists around the points you selected:
Rotate the chosen points
And to rotate the selected points, pull your mouse cursor out of the box before the cursor changes to the rotary button, and then press and drag:

Rotate the field within the chosen lines.
How to remove different points
To uncheck the points when you are finished, click on an empty location in the grid, or click outside the main Warp box.
Create a custom warp grid
If you still do not have enough power over the Warp grid presets, you can build your own custom Warp grid.
Set the preference Grid to Custom in the Options Bar:
Setting the choice to customise the Warp Grid in Photoshop CC 2020
Setting the “Custom” grid.
And then input the amount of columns and rows you like in the Custom Grid Size dialogue box. I am going to join 6 for both. When you are finished, click OK:

The new custom grid appears in front of the image, again with an independent control point at each point where the grid lines converge. Only bear in mind that adjusting the grid size after wrapping the picture would discard any adjustments you have made:
How to add the Warp grid lines of your own
Finally, for detailed power over warp, Photoshop CC 2021 lets you connect your own grid lines anywhere you need them!
In the Options Bar, you can see a new button named Split, with three icons next to it, each of which gives you a different way to divide the list. Starting from the left, Split Crosswise adds both a vertical and a horizontal grid line, Split Vertical adds a vertical grid line, and Split Horizontal adds, you guessed, a horizontal grid line
