Printing in Bulk

Some Publisher documents, such as business cards or labels, print numerous publications on a single page, but when you make the adjustments, your printer prints many pages with one publication per page. To adjust the amount of items per sheet, go to the “File” tab and hit “Print” or “Ctrl-P.” Select the number of publications you want per page from the “Pages per Sheet” drop-down menu. Creating your document

First and foremost, you must create a blank document of the appropriate size. You may either include bleed as part of this or let us add bleed area automatically when you submit your design to our online proofing tool (we’ll just copy or drag out your backdrop to cover the additional space).

To do this, first:

Open Microsoft Word and choose the ‘Blank Document’ option.

Navigate to ‘Page Setup’ under the Layout tab.

Change the page dimensions here to correspond to the size of the product you wish to develop.

For multi-page publications, such as booklets, use:

Select Insert > Blank Page from the menu.

Text should be added.

You may write straight into your document, or use text boxes to make it simpler to move content around. To include text boxes, go to:

Select Insert > Text Box from the menu.

Choose one of the available choices or ‘Draw Text Box’ for a simple one.

To add a text box to your document, click and drag your cursor over it.

To enter text, double-click the text area.

Make shapes.

Similarly, you may use shapes to create patterns, borders, and boxes.

Navigate to Insert > Shapes.

Select the form you wish to add.

To design the shape, click and drag.

Using the paint bucket tool, change the colour to match your design.

Include pictures.

Including high-quality photographs and your logo may be the ideal way to round off your design. Insert a picture as follows:

Select Insert > Pictures.

Select an image from your computer to use in your design.

Drag and drop the picture to reposition it.

To modify the size of the picture, use the corner handles.

Creating a PDF of your artwork

When you’re satisfied with your design, it’s time to print it. This converts your file into a printed document and retains all of your layers (such as photos and text boxes) in the correct order when we open it up to inspect it.

To do this, first:

Navigate to File > Export.

Click the ‘Create PDF/XPS’ button.

Check the ‘optimise for printing’ box.

Press the ‘Publish’ button.

Creating your document

Again, it is entirely up to you whether or not to include bleed space in your design – our online proofing tool can accomplish this for you automatically. However, if you’re utilising a patterned backdrop, you need increase the height and width of your page by 6mm.

To change the size of your document in Publisher, follow these steps:

Open Publisher and choose a blank template that is the correct size for the product you’re creating.

If you need to modify the size or add bleed, go to Page Design > Size. Make a new page size and alter the measurements there.

Text insertion

If you’re utilising print to convey a message to clients, you’ll need a means to include text into your design. This is how.

Select Insert > Draw Textbox from the menu.

To create the text box, click and drag.

Including images

Creating a PDF of your artwork

Exporting your project as a PDF effectively locks your design in place and prepares it for printing, so this is a really useful last step – and it’s also quite simple. To save your Publisher document as a PDF, follow these steps:

Navigate to File > Export > Make a PDF/XPS document > Make a PDF/XPS

Make sure the file type is set to PDF.

Select Options and ensure that the Optimize for Print checkbox is selected.

‘Publish’ your file once you’ve given it a name.
